Professional Expertise

Ed moved to San Antonio in 1985 to join Embrey Investments in their commercial division, leasing office space. In 1988 he formed Cross & Co, a full service commercial real estate company; in 2008 the company became San Antonio Commercial Advisors (SACA), a Cushman & Wakefield Alliance firm. Ed has represented such clients as AT&T, Amazon, Microsoft, Valero, PWC, Clear Channel Outdoor, Pabst Brewing Company, and Broadway Bank. In 2020, Ed closed SACA and now focuses on real estate investments and development.

Another area of Ed’s interest and investment is water. He helped found Laguna Water in 1999 which, through five separate partnerships, invests in groundwater rights, including the development of the Vista Ridge pipeline into San Antonio.

Education, Memberships and Awards

Ed holds a Bachelor of Business Administration from the University of Texas at Austin, is a licensed real estate broker and was a Certified Public Accountant.

Development and Investment Experience

Ed has been involved in the development or ownership of over 2 million sqft of office and industrial properties in and around San Antonio including Trinity Plaza II, 500/510 McCullough, (previously the Valero Corp. HQ, now the CPS HQ) and the recent redevelopment of the Borden Dairy Complex on the San Antonio River by the Pearl. He has developed nearly 1,000 apartment units including the Vistana and 1221 Broadway in downtown San Antonio. He is currently redeveloping the iconic Tower Life office building into 245 apartment units.

With a long history of public service, Ed has served on the boards of Centro San Antonio, SAMMinistries, JP Morgan Chase Advisory Board, the San Antonio Academy, the City of San Antonio Planning Commission, the San Antonio Zoo, Our Lady of the Lake University and Teach for America San Antonio. He is also a Deacon and Elder at First Presbyterian Church, San Antonio.
